Ito felt that "Modernism is about asserting itself in nature" and started questioning his training.
Unlike other architects, Ito starts from the inside out. He references the human body's internal organs, skin, and clothing.
The article, written by Architectuul, discusses Ito's belief that this project was one of the high points in his career. After reading this blog and the previous one, I somewhat agree. The Sendai Mediatheque is one of the rare buildings that uses post-modern and vernacular during the 21st century. It uses physics strategically and beautifully, such as letting the columns somewhat move with the wind. The building takes inspiration from the local and previous trees in order to incorporate nature. Overall, the Mediatheque was well planned structurally and culturally.
