After careful consideration, there will be some adjustments as to how pretests are conducted for this course. These changes are designed to enhance the educational journey and ensure every student has the opportunity to excel. If a student wishes to attempt pretesting out of a lesson in the course, students will contact me to set up 5-10 minute meeting to discuss the lesson material. Students can earn either an 80, 90, or 100% on that pretest, and that score will apply to all activities contained in the lesson. Pretest discussion questions and topics are predetermined, will be the same for each student, and are based exactly on the content contained in the lesson to ensure fairness and consistency. Please be aware that pretesting is NOT required, students should only schedule a pretesting meeting with me if they feel confident enough in their current understanding of the material to pass the pretest and bypass the lesson.
If you have questions or concerns about this pre-testing policy, please reach out to me and I will be happy to work with you. I care about your success and want to help you reach your learning goals. Below are some key reasons behind the updated pre-testing policy:
Comprehensive Understanding: Students will now have the chance to demonstrate their understanding for every lesson, not just the ones with quizzes. This approach ensures that all aspects of the curriculum are covered, and students can showcase their knowledge continuously.
Better Preparedness: Students will be better equipped for assignments and projects. This better ensures that a student fully grasps the material before moving on to more complex unit projects.
Student Empowerment: Our goal is to empower students to take charge of their education and grades. Many students who pretest out of lessons often find themselves struggling to achieve an A at the end of the semester. This change will protect student grades and encourage consistent effort and engagement throughout the term.
Accurate Assessment: Teachers will be able to quickly assess the depth of students' understanding and allow for more authentic assessment of student knowledge and comprehension of the material. This allows for more targeted and effective instruction, tailored to meet each student's needs.
