US History II

Provide students the opportunity to engage and immerse themselves in the rich, diverse, and complicated history of the United States. This course focuses on the second half of American history from 1877 to present day. Students should have completed the first half of US history in 8th grade with US History I.Â
United States History II addresses the making of modern America, highlighting the events and issues in United States history from the late Industrial Revolution to modern times. Topics may include, but are not limited to, the Industrial Revolution, the Progressive movement, imperialism and foreign affairs, the World Wars, the Great Depression, the Cold War, the civil rights movements, the rise of terrorism, and modern social and political history.
This course is exciting because it lays the foundation of understanding how our country has grown to become what it is today. Understanding the key ideals that founded our nation and analyzing how well we as a nation live up to those ideals throughout our story is paramount to understanding our current and future society, government, and politics which will help prepare students to engage and participate in our American democracy.
