Essential Standards

While all the material in this course is important to your future math experience, the following material will be emphasized to best prepare you for success.

CFA stands for Common Formative Assessment.  This refers to the test that is used to help evaluate your understanding of each Essential Standard.

Essential Standard 1 - I can create, solve, and interpret one-variable linear equations. (Semester 1)

• I can create one-variable linear equations.

• I can solve and interpret the solution to multi-step linear equations.

• I can determine whether a solution has meaning in a real-world context.

Essential Standard 2 - I can find and write Linear Functions. (Semester 1)

• I can find the slope of a line.

• I can write the equation of a line in slope intercept form.

• I can use the point-slope formula to write the equation of a line.

Essential Standard 3 - I can solve Systems of Linear Equations. (Semester 2)

• I can solve a system of linear equations by graphing.

• I can solve a system of linear equations using substitution.

• I can solve a system of linear equations using elimination.

Essential Standard 4 - I can use the slope of lines to solve geometric problems. (Semester 2)

• I can prove that two lines are parallel, perpendicular or neither using slopes.

• I can use coordinates and the distance formula to find the perimeter of a polygon.

• I can use slopes of lines to determine if a polygon is a special polygon such as a rectangle, kite, rhombus, etc.
