The UDOT Traffic Management Division uses the following live traffic operations systems to improve traffic operations: Freeway Ramp Meters, Variable Speed Limits and Variable Message Signs. These systems run on live traffic operations data collected in 20 second intervals and communicated back to the UDOT Traffic Operations Center through a robust UDOT-owned fiber optic and ATMS infrastructure statewide.
