Why is UDOT making this change?
To ensure security of the utah.gov environment and limit outside access to sensitive information.

What is the benefit?

Will project email accounts be going away, such as "LittleCottonwoodEIS@utah.gov"?
These types of accounts are managed by our Communications and Public Involvement groups. Any change in project email accounts will be coordinated through these groups.

Do I need a Gmail account in order to allow UDOT employees to share Google Calendars and Google Docs with me?
There is a difference between a Gmail account and a Google account. If your consulting firm uses Gmail for your email service you will not need to take any action. However, if your consulting firm does not use Gmail you will need to create a Google Account but not a new Gmail or email address. To be clear, this is different from creating a personal Gmail account. You can create a Google account using the same consulting firm email address you already have. This allows Google to authenticate you and allows UDOT to share Google content with you as if you are part of our Google environment. Link to Training
