Motor Carrier

Overview

The Motor Carrier Division regulates and provides oversight of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities involving large trucks and buses.

The Motor Carrier Safety section and the Ports of Entry section, provide oversight for:

• Permitting

• Education

We also ensure all applicable safety measures are in place for the large vehicles moving through the state while establishing and implementing rules, policies, and guidelines that support state and federal requirements.

As we strive to keep Utahns safe on the roads, we evaluate and deploy state-of-the art technologies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the motor carrier operations.
