ITS/Signal Tech Description - directs the work of electronics specialists and/or others in the design, development, and installation of complex specialized electronic circuits and equipment.
Incumbent assigns, supervises, and coordinates the work of staff including coordinating activities with outside contractors, local governments, other agencies and the public as needed.
Incumbent maintains records, inventories, and reports of operation (or) ensures all equipment and supplies are available and that staff and crews are properly equipped. This work may include complex projects, such as traffic signal control systems and freeway lighting systems, including the inspection, maintenance, testing, programming and installation of equipment for freeway lighting or traffic signal control and coordination or monitoring and coordinating the freeway lighting program.
This job may require field work to include extensive travel and exposure to hazardous conditions and/or be subject to 24 hour call. The following certifications may be required: Certified by the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) in Work Zone Safety and/or Certified as a IMSA Traffic Signal Technician III.
