About APEX: Advancing Professional Excellence in Civics and History Education

APEX is a three-year professional development program funded by the U.S. Department of Education through an American History and Civics Education Semiquincentennial Seminar Grant.

This innovative program offers free, flexible, and engaging opportunities for educators to grow professionally while exploring American history and civics through immersive learning experiences. Participants enjoy:

     Travel opportunities across Virginia and the United States

Evidence-based professional development focused on social studies, literacy, and classroom management

A stipend model that allows educators to choose learning activities that best fit their goals and schedules

Educators from all backgrounds are welcome—including K–12 Social Studies, Language Arts, and Special Education teachers, as well as instructional coaches and administrators.
