APEX is a three-year professional learning network designed to deepen teachers’ understanding of American history, strengthen civic education, and enhance classroom instruction leading up to the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Each year centers on a key theme:
Year 1:Foundations of a Nation (1607–1789)
Year 2:Democracy in Conflict (1790–1877)
Year 3:Civic Transformation (1878–Present)
Participants will engage in Gilder Lehrman Institute seminars, on-site learning at historic locations, and unique student civic engagement experiences with the Eisenhower Institute.
