The Phase I DCE will ensure E-log accounts are set up by our administrative staff, Ms. Wallace, and account information and passwords are provided to students at least one week prior to their first clinical rotation. They will also ensure students have read instructions in the Student Clinical Guidance Site.
Students are responsible for entering information into E-logs for all patient encounters during each clinical rotation. All encounters seen during a given week will be entered into E-logs by the following Monday.
Phase I faculty from the corresponding course for the clinical rotation is responsible for reviewing the clinical E-log summary submitted by the student in CANVAS for the entire semester.
The Phase II DCE is responsible for reviewing all student E-logs submitted after each Phase II semester in CANVAS. Students must also upload a final E-log clinical summary completed reflecting the total completed clinical hours over the entire program in their ePortfolio in iRubric as part of your graduation requirement. This will be reviewed by the Phase II DCE when completing each student’s final iRubric ePortfolio checklist at the end of their final semester, prior to reporting completion to the Program Director.
E-log Documentation
Direct Patient Care Hours:
Group and individual patient care, records review, charting, debriefing with preceptors, and anything to do with the patient are considered direct patient care clinical hours, not alternate encounters.
For group therapy, calculate total hours (reviewing records, facilitation, documentation) spent and dividing that by the number of patients in your group when logging each patient encounter.
For SIM encounters: Using Line 2 treats the experience like a direct care encounter. Under the PURPOSE field, there is a Standardized patient care option. Students should fill out the entire form (age, sex, diagnostics etc).
Alternate Hours:
May include Bushmaster, operational elective, grand rounds, case studies, and admin tasks related to clinical rotation.
Direct students to the below contact for specific E-log concerns:

The E-Log Administrator will also meet with students virtually, individually or as a group for additional training if needed after reviewing the following documents below:
