As a SEA-Teacher Program delegate, you will be assigned to a host country, a practicum school, and an assigned school.
A practicum school will be the main organization school that will host the SEA-Teacher delegate within it's branch schools. While the assigned school will be the school assigned to you by the practicum school from where you will be teaching during the program.
I was lucky enough that both the country and the school I hoped and wanted to attend was assigned to me! Here are my affiliated schools:
Universitas Sebelas Maret, also known as the University of Sebelas Mare, is among Indonesia's top universities in academic excellence. It is situated in Solo, Central Java, Indonesia, and is encircled by a serene, green, and cultural setting. The vast green space on the UNS campus, a city-like area, and an inclusive diversity of religion, they provide a suitable environment for the whole student body.
FKIP-UNS, also known as Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan or the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sebelas Maret University, is one of the nine faculties at Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. It was the faculty I was under during my stay in Solo City, Indonesia.
Due to UNS being situated in Central Java, more specifically Solo. By being an exchange student for this university allowed me to truly understand how Surakarta was the "Soul of Java." Living and studying in Solo, students will be able to witness the modernity of the new world while still being able to preserve the history and culture of the past. UNS, situated in a culturally preserved town, offers diverse cultural activities. These programs educate students and the community about Javanese science, knowledge, and culture within an academic framework, thus integrating and perfectly blending academics with cultural exchange.
Sekolah Menengah Pertama 1 Negeri Surakarta, also known as SMP Negeri 1 Surakarta is a State Junior High School located in Jalan M.T. Haryono 4, Surakarta City, Indonesia. Due to its longstanding history in the area and its reputation for academic excellence, the institution is highly recognized. It is renowned for its performance well on national examinations and in other academic contests which is showcased with their at least six trophy cases dating as far back as 1985 from what I observed with more in storage. The school follows the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum or Independent Curriculum mandated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia. Additionally, it is the first and also oldest State Junior High School institution in Surakarta City.
The school's rich history of originally being a hospital, but was turned into a school instead in 1950 (construction was finished in 1948).
Most famous alumni include Former President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo who was in office from 2014-2024. Another is the current Vice-President of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who was the former Mayor of Surakarta City.
