We seek to elucidate how different biomolecules, especially proteins and lipids, arrange themselves at the micro and nanoscale to exert diverse biological functions. Within this mission, we aim to expand the frontiers of knowledge in a professional yet exciting and dynamic environment, with mutual respect for diverse backgrounds and viewpoints. We work to create an environment that values diversity, promotes an inclusive culture, and establishes a sense of belonging for each group member, both in the laboratory and within the University of São Paulo community. Collaboration, open communication, and trust are the pillars of our group.
We believe that the boundaries that separate disciplines, despite being very old, are meant to be broken!
Biological systems are formed and arranged in extremely complex structures, with not only a direct impact on the construction of what we call life but also on its malfunction. As a result, their understanding requires an interdisciplinary approach that transcends the traditional boundaries that distinguish biology from physics, chemistry, and engineering. We hope new members, regardless of academic background, are fearless in asking and addressing fundamental questions about how nature works.
We also expect all group members to treat each other respectfully, regardless of ethnicity, disability, gender (including transgender, gender-neutral, non-binary...), age, sexual orientation, or beliefs (including lack of religion or beliefs).
