How to submit

To submit a proposal, applicants should provide:


1. A description of the project (maximum 1500 words) to include: 

            o   theoretical framework and background (≈ 700 words)     

            o   hypotheses / research questions (≈ 300 words)

            o   methodological approach (≈ 300 words)

            o   anticipated sample characteristics and size, including power analyses as appropriate (≈ 200 

                  words)

            o   ethics committee approval document(s), if already completed (preferred)


2. A description of the relation of the project to the Open Science principles outlined below   

   (maximum 500 words):


3. A one-page budget with the following details:

            o   potential itemized expenses 

                    *  personnel (salaries)

                    *  administrative (supplies, postage, storage, transcription, etc.)

                    *  equipment/IT/software

                    *  data collection / analysis

                    *  translation

                     *  estimates for travel and lodging to 1 US-based psychological conference following project   ]

                          completion (e.g., American Psychological Association, American Psychological Society, 

                           Society for Personality and Social Psychology)

                      *  other as relevant

            o   existing or sought additional sources of funding (if any; not required)

            o   no indirect costs are supported in these awards


4. A one-page timeline for the project, including expected quantifiable outputs (journal articles, 

   conference presentations, shared datasets, etc.) 


5. Brief data management plan as a supplementary document, following the format and 

   guidance of the NSF SBE Directorate 


6. Brief CVs of all investigators (1500-word maximum per investigator)

            o   All involved scholars must acquire and provide a unique ORCID (https://orcid.org/) identification 

                  number.  


7. The applicant (or research team leader) must complete the form available at:

2022

January 31, 2022: deadline to submit research project proposals.

March 30, 2022: deadline for evaluation of research project proposals by the advisory committee. After the evaluation period, the proponents will be informed of the approval or not of their project to receive the award.

April 22, 2022: start date for the research activities proposed.

October 30, 2022: deadline to send the partial report of the research in progress to the advisory committee. 


2023

May 31, 2023: Deadline to send the partial report of the research in progress to the advisory committee representative.

November 30, 2023: Deadline to send the final report to the advisory committee (that is, researchers will have up to sixty days after the deadline to finish the research and send their final report). 

August 31, 2024: Deadline for researchers to present their research findings in an event held by an international organization, such as the American Psychological Association, the International Association for the Psychology of Religion, the American Psychological Society, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. (Note that your presentation need not be completed as of this date. All we need to receive is a notice that your work has been duly accepted for presentation at one of the named conferences in the US.)"



Proposals should be saved as pdf and submitted in English to cogscibr@usp.br  

Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of novelty, feasibility of the project, and unique relevance to Brazilian contexts by the advisory committee of Mary Rute Gomes Esperandio, Wellington Zangari, and Kevin L. Ladd. 


Decisions will be made within one month of the submission deadline. 


Projects must be completed within 13 months from the time of award and final reports must be submitted no later than 14 months from the time of award.
