In the Fall of 2020, the Psychology department implemented the Psychology Buddy Program in which all incoming First Year and Transfer Psych majors were paired with more seasoned 2nd-4th year students. Each pair of buddies was encouraged to meet on an at least monthly basis with suggested icebreakers and topics for discussion. In particular, this gave new students entering USF or college for the first time remotely, a point person to count on for questions, “insider info”, and connection to resources.

Due to the huge success of our program, we are continuing our Psych Buddy Program in addition to implementing our Community-Based Initiative. With this program, we hope to host monthly game nights, trivia nights, wellness/mindfulness challenges, alumni networking, social hours with professors, and provide other social opportunities for the students and faculty of the Psychology department.
