Bridges High School is a 9-12th grade academic high school. Bridges High School is based on three components: Utah's Portrait of a Graduate, the Expanded Core Curriculum for students with vision impairments and Utah state core standards/DLM Essential Elements. All Bridges students seek a high school diploma. Students graduating from Bridges High School have the same diploma options as all other Utah public schools. Students will graduate with either a regular high school diploma or an alternate high school diploma. An alternate high school diploma is a valid high school diploma. It is not a certificate of completion. For more information about alternate diplomas, check out the FAQs from USBE.
At Bridges High School we offer small teacher-to-student ratio, intensive assistive technology, and certified teachers of vision impairments. Students may be enrolled full time at Bridges or take some classes at a local high school as they seek a Utah high school diploma. All Bridges students are held to Utah graduation requirements with individualized supports and competency-based learning.
Bridges High School is distinguished by its 21st century approach to instruction. Students engage in meaningful instruction in the school, in residential life, and in the community.
The Bridges Community Readiness pathway (post high) is not an extension of high school education. It is a designated program with coaching, community based instruction, targeted intervention, and comprehensive preparation for the rigor of their next step in life. Take a year to prepare. The Bridges to Community Readiness Pathway length is based on student needs. Some students may be with us for a year, others may be with us longer. It serves as a gap year program. Some students may need to catch up on skills or need more practice. That's why we say preparation now, success for life.
The community readiness program is designed for post-secondary students. The Bridges Community Readiness program is a full-time collegiate and vocational program. It is based on skills from the Expanded Core Curriculum and Utah's Portrait of a Graduate. Community readiness focuses on community preparedness. A young adult's community includes many aspects of their life. It can include their family/personal, church, collegiate, and work. The goal of the BCRP is to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and experience they need to take control of their life.

The Bridges Residential Life (BRL) Program is the complimentary piece to our Bridges campus programs. Instruction is an extension of the campus based learning. It is the "lab" where students apply skills to real life situations. Instruction starts at 3:00 and includes after school enrichment, cooking classes, and differentiated instruction in the residences and in the community to meet the students at their learning level and help them reach their potential. Students are empowered to develop action plans to reach their goals. During yearly transition planning, students select a pathway that best aligns with their life after Bridges goals. BRL staff partner with students to achieve success in the student-selected pathway.
Bridges Residential Life Pathways:
Supported Independent: Students who will be living with a full time caregiver who can provide needed supervision. They will be able to engage in most activities of daily living most of the time without any assistance but sometimes will require help or reminders. Supervision may be in person or via electronic means.
Semi-Independent: Students who are able to live partially independent with minimal support. This may include living in a group home, basement apartment, or other setting where daily checks occur by a caregiver and some assistance is available and offered up to 2 times per day.
Independent: Students who are able to live independently with a roommate or on their own in a rental unit. They are able to live without supervision or anyone checking in on them.
