Resources for Parents

This list is designed to connect our USD 504 families with resources to meet needs that may arise during the COVID 19 pandemic.

Over the past few weeks many resources have been developed to help families cope with recent changes in education and basic day to day living. This is a master resource list that was created for elementary students. It includes social-emotional learning activities, tips for calming, many educational resources and some that are just for fun!

Coping skills and Resources for Home

Adults and children alike are all in a new situation that may be difficult to navigate. It is important that we all take the time to take care of ourselves, learn what calming techniques work best for us all and seek help when we need it. Don't forget that I'm still here if you need me!

Recently I have felt like my main role in my home has been as a referee. We have had some incredible moments and other entire afternoons where the kids are struggling to get along. This can cause a lot of frustration and stress for everyone. My suggestion is allow everyone (including yourself) to take a breath, get calm, and then adapt the following the questions to help work through it. You can find breathing and calming techniques in the following articles, the lesson packet I sent home and here.
