What is a credit?

A credit is a unit used to track a student’s progress toward graduation. Students earn 0.5 credit for each class they successfully complete per semester. Successfully completing a year-long course earns 1 full credit.

***What is a Post-Secondary Asset? Students will complete two or more postsecondary assets from either of two categories, aligned with their Individual Plan of Study.

Examples of a Post-Secondary Asset include:

ACT composite (Score of 21 or higher)
WorkKeys level (Silver or higher)
9+ college hours
State Assessment scores of 3 or 4 in math, ELA, and science
Senior project/senior exit interviews
ASVAB per the requirements of the military branch selected
SAT score (1060 or higher)
Completing the Board of Regents curriculum
International Baccalaureate Exam (4+)
Advanced Placement Exam (3+)
95% attendance in high school
Youth Apprenticeships
40 or more community service hours
Client-centered projects
Workplace learning directly related to IPS
Industry recognized certifications
Seal of Biliteracy
CTE Scholar
Eagle Scout or Gold Scout
Two or more high school athletics/activities
JROTC
State-level Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) Officer

CTE / Career Pathways

What are CTE / Career Pathway classes?

Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes allow students to explore different career options through hands-on learning and real-world experiences. Students are encouraged to take introductory courses in one or more career pathways. If a student enjoys a class, they can continue taking additional courses in that pathway throughout their years at FSHS.

Student-Athletes: Classes for NCAA Eligibility

NCAA Requirements

If you plan to play sports in college, be sure to let your school counselor know. There are specific courses student-athletes must complete during high school to be eligible. Student-athletes are also required to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
