The class will become the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Requirements and Evaluation for Mock Congress Simulation
Attendance and Participation is a must. Much of your grade will be based on participation.
No Cell Phones on the House Floor. Will be removed by the Executive Branch (Teacher) *checks & balances*
Each Congressperson will write 2 bills for consideration by the House of Representatives.
You can only Co-Sponsor 1 bill
Each class will have a Speaker of the House and parliamentary procedure will be used.
Bill Procedure
Only a limited number of Bills will make it out of the HOPPER and on to the house floor.
American Pizza Community (Lobbying Group) has volunteered to supply pizza to the students (and possibly another house member) who get their bills to the House Floor.
House Members must campaign, convince, bargain, and debate to get their bill to the floor.
Grading
There will be 2 sessions to debate bills on the docket. You must sponsor/co-sponsor 1 bill per session.
Each session is worth 50 points.
Debate a bill = 20 pts (2x = 40)
Expectation is you will debate for or against a bill 2x.
