History of CSHS

Computer Science Honor Society (CSHS) was founded by CodeVA for the state of Virginia in 2016 and assumed by the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) for national expansion in 2019. The purpose of CSHS is the promotion and recognition of computer science scholarship among students in postsecondary institutions. It aims to do this by electing members on an honorary basis according to their proficiency in computer science and by engaging in activities designed to promote this dynamic field and scholarly development of its members. CSHS is an academic society consisting of societies located throughout the United States. CS Honor Societies may be chartered only at academic institutions whose standards are excellent in all the liberal arts and particularly so in computer science. An application is required before a charter is granted to an institution.
