Advanced Journalism Takes Between the Flames
to the Next Level at the MACE Conference
The Advanced Journalism Team had the incredible opportunity to present their student-led podcast, Between the Flames, at the MACE Conference at Kansas State University. MACE, an educational technology conference, gave the team a platform to showcase the creativity, collaboration, and professionalism that go into producing their podcast. Brooklyn Jinkens and Mya Field, co-hosts of Between the Flames, collaborated with Journalism Advisor, Mrs. Kylie Hamilton, with the hopes that sharing this project will inspire other schools to provide the same opportunity with their students. While at K-State for the conference, the team also toured the Collegian Media Group, led by BPHS alum Mr. Spencer O’Daniel, gaining a firsthand look at college-level publications and broadcasting programs. Students visited with the Royal Purple yearbook and Collegian Newspaper staff, learned about the Manhappenin' Magazine publication, as well as toured the KSDB Wildcat 91.9 radio station. Seeing a professional operation in action inspired the team and highlighted just how impressive their own work has become.
