In order to participate in athletics at East High, the student-athlete must be in good standing with KSHSAA, USD 259, and East High.
Each student is responsible for the following:
Student must be enrolled in at least 5 classes of unit weight (AceTime and study halls do not count toward this 5).
Student must have passed at least 5 classes of unit weight the previous semester (AceTime and study halls do not count toward this 5; summer school does not count toward a student’s eligibility).
Student cannot have more than 8 semesters of eligibility in grades 9-12.
Student who reaches age 19 on or before September 1st will not be eligible.
Transfer students must meet additional eligibility criteria. Athletic office will provide additional information.
Student must meet school attendance requirements.
Student may jeopardize their participation status by violating school rules.
Student athletes are to have their IDs on during the school day
Student Athletes are to arrive in class on time. NO TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETE SHOULD BE SENT TO HALLSWEEPS! Repeated attendance in hallsweeps will result in not being able to run in that week's meet!
Required Forms/Fee:
1. Athletic Registration completed
Pay to Participate fee paid by March 25
Student-athletes must be in school to participate in practice or an athletic contest that day. If a student is unexcused for more than half of the day, they are not allowed to participate in a practice and/or contest that day.
Track and Field Student-athletes are expected to be in good standing in ALL classes. Student Athletes are expected to be in class ON TIME every day and every hour. If student athletes cannot arrive to class on time, then coaches cannot trust those athletes to arrive on time for each of their events. Therefore - Arrive to class on time, or you may not compete in meets.
Track and Field athletes may be required to miss school for meets (especially 7th hour). It is the responsibility of the student athlete to communicate with his or her teachers to get any and all missing assignments. Failure to do so could result in a student athlete being removed from a competition
BOTTOM LINE: KEEP YOUR GRADES UP, ARRIVE TO CLASS ON TIME, AND DON'T DO ANYTHING YOU SHOULDN'T.
Electronic communication is a tremendous asset to students, parents and staff. However, inappropriate use can put all parties at risk. It is
important that you realize that anything you post on social media has the potential to be seen by everybody. This can affect placement in post secondary opportunities (college, jobs, etc) and can result in legal actions.
General guidelines to consider as you post on social media pages:
Profanity, vulgarity, and sexual references are not appropriate.
Do not post anything derogative about others.
Do not engage with fans or players from other schools if they are making derogatory comments.
Never post when you are emotional. Chances are the action will have a negative outcome.
Be cautious when reposting someone else’s content. Such action can appear to be an endorsement of the message, even if you are not the original author.
If you violate the social media guidelines, you may be subject to consequences including dismissal from the team.
Art. 3 – A student who uses any form of tobacco, illegal drugs, alcoholic beverages, etc., at school events is not in good standing.
Art. 4 – A student who uses anabolic steroids would be ineligible for interscholastic competition until such time as medical evidence can be presented that their system is free of that drug.
Student-athletes who use any form of illegal drugs or alcoholic beverages, is not in good standing and will be removed from the team. All instances will be reported to the proper authorities.
Student athletes who participate in any criminal activity, not drug related, is not in good standing and will be removed from the team. All instances will be reported to the proper authorities.
