About the Scholarship
This scholarship was established as part of the Friends of the Fine Arts Program that will help enhance the Fine Arts within the school district.
The AJ and Patricia Wagner Fine Arts Scholarship is a fund that was developed as a memorial to AJ Wagner, a former music teacher, farmer, and a long time resident of Bennington, and his high school sweetheart Patricia. Graduates of BHS in 1941, both served in the armed forces during WWII, then after college, returned to the Bennington community where they have since lived.
AJ served as a second director of the Black and Gold Band before embarking on an agricultural career, while Pat worked in the home and instilled in her children a deep appreciation for art, literature, and music. The couple offered their artistic talents to those around them in areas ranging from community service organizations to church choirs and special musical performances.
Each year a scholarship is awarded to a graduating Bennington Senior who was involved in fine arts throughout their high school years and has the aspiration to continue their education.
