Course Description
High School Orchestra is a year-long ensemble course for students with prior string experience. Students
will continue developing technique, music reading, and ensemble performance skills while preparing
and performing a diverse range of repertoire. Emphasis is placed on collaboration, musical growth, and
performance excellence. Enrollment priority is given to current 8th grade Orchestra students. Additional
students with prior experience may enroll, if space allows.
Students must have completed 8th grade orchestra within the district or auditioned the spring before the semester begins to enroll in the class.

Project-Based Learning
Students will engage in project-based learning as they prepare music for a variety of performances including within their school buildings and outside in the community in places such as Cause Coffee, Legends Stadium KCK, and Crown Center.
