Social emotional learning/SEL is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
Social emotional learning/SEL is everyone’s responsibility in Urbana School District #116; social emotional learning/SEL is not just limited to social workers, school psychologists, mental health professionals, etc. to support.
The greatest impact occurs when the implementation of Social emotional learning/SEL takes place throughout a school, a school district, and in students' homes.
When everyone is responsible for helping students understand and own their social emotional competencies, our students will flourish.
