CPAIOR Code of Conduct

The participants, organizers, sponsors, and other individuals involved with the International Conference on the Integration of Constraint Programming, Artificial Intelligence, and Operations Research (CPAIOR) aim for the free exchange of ideas, thoughts, and expression. That is only possible if we, as a community, are engaged in developing, nurturing, and protecting an environment in which we recognize and respect the identity, needs, and boundaries of every person in order to make them feel welcome and part of our community.

As such, every party involved with CPAIOR subscribes to making CPAIOR an environment without:

  • Harassment, bullying, and discrimination related to age, race, religion, creed, color, gender identitity, gender expression, sexual orientation, medical condition, any form of disability, pregnancy, medical conditions, national origin, ancestry, or any other characteristic.

  • Inappropriate or unprofessional behavior, which may hurt the reputation of CPAIOR or affect how others experience the community or contribute to it, including intimidation, personal attacks, assault, coercion, theft, property damage, other unnecessary disruption of activities, sexual harassment, stalking, following, unwanted photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome attention, public vulgar exchanges, name-calling, diminutive characterizations, or any attitude that is acknowledged as making someone uncomfortable or negatively affecting the common good.

  • Use of any materials, such as images or recordings, which may induce one or more of the issues above.

  • Damaging claims, actions, or falsifications from individuals or organizations who claim to represent CPAIOR without being entitled to do so.

  • Scientific misconduct in the form of fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism of paper submissions or research presentations, including demos, exhibits or posters.

The scope of these responsibilities includes physical and virtual engagements with any other member of the community and with those who do not necessarily identify as members of the community, at any moment in time, and span beyond official events associated with CPAIOR.

The organizers are committed to enforce this code with the collaboration and feedback from the CPAIOR community at large. If someone engages in any inappropriate behavior as defined herein, the organizers of CPAIOR may take action as deemed appropriate, including: a formal or informal warning to the offender, expulsion from the conference with no refund, barring from participation in future conferences or their organization, reporting the incident to the offender’s local institution or funding agencies, or reporting the incident to local authorities or law enforcement. A response of "just joking" is not acceptable.

The CPAIOR Code of Conduct has been developed after the NeurIPS Code of Conduct.

By participating in conferences, fieldwork, or other programs sponsored by federal funds awarded to the University of Southern California (the University), you are agreeing to abide by policies in place to ensure a safe and productive academic research environment. These include University policies related to sexual misconduct, discrimination and harassment based on protected characteristics, and related retaliation.

The University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination Statement prohibits discrimination on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, ethnicity, religion (including religious dress and grooming practices), creed, sex, age (40 years and over in the employment context), marital status, national origin, citizenship status, employment status, income status, shared ancestry and ethnic characteristics, partnership status, medical condition (including cancer and genetic characteristics), pregnancy (including childbirth, breastfeeding, or related medical conditions), disability, political belief or affiliation, domestic violence victim status, military or veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, and any other class of individuals protected from discrimination under federal, state, or local law, regulation, or ordinance in any of the University’s educational programs and activities, and in the employment (including application for employment) and admissions (including application for admission) context, as required by applicable law.

This Policy applies to all students, staff, faculty, and third parties.

The University also prohibits retaliation against any individual for the purpose of interfering with any right or privilege secured by University policy or law, or because the individual makes a good faith report or formal complaint, testifies, assists, participates, or refuses to participate in any manner in an investigation, proceeding, or hearing under the University Policy on Prohibited Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation.

Reporting Harassment or Discrimination

The University encourages anyone who has experienced Prohibited Conduct to report it directly to USC’s Office for Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Title IX (EEO-TIX). Any individual may make a report under this Policy regardless of affiliation with the University and regardless of whether the individual reporting is the individual alleged to be the subject of the conduct. Reports can be made in person, by mail, by telephone, or by electronic mail, or by any other means that results in EEO-TIX receiving the verbal or written report. A report may be made at any time (including during non-business hours) using the telephone number, email address, or office mailing address for the VP of EEO-TIX, listed below:
