1: Review the following graduate admissions program website.
2: Discuss the following:
a. Look for excerpts on the program website that Demystifies, Welcomes, Affirms, or Deconstructs. Discuss. (Elements of Equity-Minded Recruitment)
b. What might you do on your own program website to incorporate elements of equity-minded recruitment practice?
3: Be ready to share back in the main room.
Extra credit: How could you reword one of the examples so it’s authentic for your department?
1: As a group choose one row/tactic in each of the 3 phases of the diversity recruitment plan (predisposition, search, choice) that you would like to focus on.
2: Propose action items that would be necessary to move forward with this tactic. How could you incorporate equity-minded recruitment practice into it?
3: Discuss any resources that would be necessary or individuals you whom you could collaborate with. How might you engage campus colleagues in conversation about revisiting norms and practices for recruitment?
4: Do you have questions about the feasibility or implementation of a plan like this? Bring them back to the main room for discussion.
Extra credit: Repeat the process with campus visit plans and/or aligning recruitment and admissions.
