Talking about challenges shows strength, not weakness. The goal is not to be positive all of the time (everyone, even those who look like they have it all together, has challenges), but rather to show patience, forgiveness, and compassion for yourself, as you would for your best friend.
Celebrate what you can do now that you may not have done a year ago. Your story matters because you matter. No one can tell you that your story does not matter or was not hard enough, because they did not experience it.
If you sense that someone is putting up a front, be open about your own obstacles. Be kind and keep checking in. Suggest activities like journaling, affirmations, or walking in nature. Self-care does not always fix a problem but can provide space to feel better.
Treat mental health like physical health; you need to put full effort into it to be your best both physically and mentally.
