About the Program:
Hosted at the URI Kingston campus, the camp is open to voice, string, woodwind, brass, and percussion students. Piano students will be placed in the ensemble as mallet percussionists & will participate in percussion studio class. To enroll in the camp, you must have completed the 7th through 12th grade in June of 2027.
The main focus of the camp is to provide interactive, welcoming, and joyful large ensemble and chamber ensemble experience. The students will partake in studio classes (with a URI faculty member or URI guest artist teaching all of the students of each section), chamber ensemble concerts, workshops/clinics, music theory classes, and many other workshops, masterclasses, and sessions!
Campers will enjoy an authentic Rhode Island experience! Musicians will take a field trip to a local beach for an afternoon of fun midway through camp. The campers will have time to relax and enjoy some down time together, oceanside! Each night will have a planned event for everyone, including a movie night, faculty recital, open swim at the university pool, and other fun activities.

Placement: Videos due June 18, 2027
There are no auditions for this camp; all 7th-12th grade musicians are welcome! Students will be asked to submit a sample of their musicianship prior to camp so that they are placed in the appropriate seats in large/chamber ensembles.
Some of the best music-making experiences are the ones where you are playing side by side with advanced musicians, pushing you to be the best player that you can be! It is our philosophy that all students can be taught, and we are devoted to working hard with you this week as you progress as a musician!
Placement instructions: You can find the information for what kind of repertoire to prepare and record here!
If you have any questions about this, please send alacasse@uri.edu an email!

Families with multiple siblings will receive a $50 discount per sibling.
Only one discount may apply per camper.
Housing and Dining
All residential students will be staying in an air-conditioned campus dormitory. Dorms are apartment style - every child has their own private bedroom in a 4, 5, or 10 person apartment. Bathrooms are shared within the apartment and are completely private. There will be 1 trained student counselor per 10 student campers, and the counselors will shadow the musicians’ schedules throughout the week of camp, fully supervising students at mealtimes, rehearsals, flex hours, evening activities, and walks between the dorms and all other points on campus. The students residing on campus will be provided 3 meals per full day, and commuter students will be provided lunch and dinner at the dining hall.
