Commuters should:
Arrive at the round drop-off driveway at the URI Fine Arts Center (exact location).
Check in at the Recital Hall lobby before proceeding to rehearsals.

Parents, counselors, and guests can park at the URI Fine Arts Center lot #6 (during the day and overnight).
Parallel parking on Flagg Road is not permitted overnight (11PM-7AM).
Anyone attending the Kingston Chamber Music Festival concerts may park in the URI Fine Arts Center lot #6.
For dorm drop off and pick-up: parents may park along Flagg Road near Garrahy Hall while they assist their children with bringing items downstairs. There is also temporary parking in the round parking lot at 180 Flagg Road (behind Garrahy Hall) for you to pull up your vehicle to load.
Campers stay in Garrahy Hall, an apartment-style residence hall on the URI campus.
Each apartment includes:
Private bedrooms
Shared living/common spaces
Private apartment bathrooms (not hallway-style)
Apartments are available in:

Please bring:
Full XL sheets
Pillow
Blanket (the air conditioning is strong!)

Hand soap for the bathroom

Any food allergies submitted during registration will be communicated to the URI Dining Services staff. Families with specific questions are encouraged to contact URI Dining Services directly through their website.
The Camp Director and Head Counselors are trained to administer an EpiPen.
If an allergic reaction occurs, staff will:

Please note that URI Summer Music Academy does not have access to URI Health Services in the same way that enrolled URI students do.
Students remain supervised throughout the day and evening.
Student counselors travel with students between campus locations.
Evening activities are scheduled as part of camp and may include:
Movie nights in the dorm
Campfires with s'mores
Other organized social activities
Students are trusted to uphold high standards of behavior and decision-making, recognizing that their conduct represents both themselves and URI Summer Music Academy.
URI SMA employs adult camp counselors who are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. Alex and Catherine, our head counselors, are public school educators.

Professionalism
Responsibility
Experience working with teenage students
Ability to help students make positive decisions
All counselors are vetted and invited by URI Summer Music Academy.
Yes. URI SMA does not collect student phones, tablets, or other devices.
Students are expected to use devices responsibly.
Device expectations:
No device use during rehearsals unless using a tablet for digital sheet music.
Students should demonstrate professionalism and respect regarding device use.
Families who prefer their child not to have a phone should simply not send one to camp.
Absolutely!
Although URI SMA does not currently offer a piano ensemble, pianists are encouraged to attend.
Opportunities include:
Playing a mallet percussion instrument in large ensemble
Playing piano in a jazz ensemble or combo

The camp schedule is designed so that:

They rehearse at different times, allowing students to participate in both.

All concerts will also be filmed and shared with families who cannot attend in person.
Students only need spending money for:
Pool admission: approximately $5
Beach day dinner and souvenirs: approximately $20–50 per beach trip
The two-week session includes two beach field trips, so families should consider sending approximately $100–150 for the entire session.
Walk-up food counters are available for meals during beach days.
