2023 URI Chinese Flagship Program Pedagogical Workshop on Chinese Language Classroom Instruction & Technology Integration
The URI Chinese Language Flagship Program offered its teacher training workshop in June, 2023, which aimed at developing and further improving participants’ classroom teaching techniques in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The following website offers a glimpse of this workshop's activities and resources created by URI workshop conductors, instructors, and participants during its pre-, on-campus, and post-workshop.
Goals & Objectives
Through systematic readings, facilitator lectures, hands-on collaborative and individual tasks, teaching demonstrations, discussions, and presentations, participants will develop an understanding of the research-informed pedagogical principles of backward curricular goal-setting strategies and theme-based and TBLT classroom implementation and assessment.
Through well-designed teaching demonstrations, class observations, hands-on teaching practice, mentor guidance, and reflection sessions, participants will learn to use a variety of classroom procedures and techniques for implementing real-life tasks and pedagogical tasks.
Through hands-on technology and pedagogy workshops and group projects, participants will acquire skills and techniques for teaching technology-enhanced and thematic-based TBLT online and offline courses at all proficiency levels.

这一板块是2023 URI领航暑期项目两天的教学内容及活动(即周二教IC L7 & 周三教L8),在工作坊期间,每个教学小组每天负责完成50分钟的小班练习课(4到6个任务框架,每个框架有可有4-8个新、旧任务要素的句式或程式)。学员们根据下面提供的目标任务要素和任务框架选择、设计自己当天的教学计划, 包括用什么方式呈现目标任务要素、设计什么样的互动提问、组织什么任务框架活动和设计什么框架活动单。学员们根据这些列出的教学范围(两个话题,6个子任务,18个任务框架),安排、设计教学活动和顺序,决策什么样的互动活动。
This page represents the hands-on teaching content and activities by all participants at the 2023 URI Chinese Flagship summer pedagogical workshop. Each teaching team (two participants a team) conducts a 50-minute teaching session daily on IC L7 and L8 for two days. The hands-on teaching content covers two topics, 6 sub-tasks, and 18 task frameworks. On each teaching day, participants are asked to design, sequence, and execute their own classroom activities, specifically focusing on 4 to 6 small group task framework activities and a series of interactive questions that target 4 to 8 new and relevant task essential patterns and routines.
