EXCHANGE STAY IN BILBAO - SPAIN
On Saturday, February 25, we gathered in front of the school at a quarter to three, loaded our suitcases onto the bus and said goodbye to our parents. Then we already set off in the direction of Prague airport. Not long after passing all the security checks, we had an unpleasant surprise, the plane was delayed. The connecting connection from Frankfurt flew by and the next one was not planned until Sunday morning. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the families. We left the airport individually with them and settled in their house. Around two o'clock in the afternoon, we all gathered in the square and went to a local restaurant. There we tasted calamari and got to know each other. We visited the Bizkaiko Zubia bridge, which is on the UNESCO list.
The Monday program took place in the school library. First, three female students showed us a traditional Basque dance and taught us several dances. All 10 students then gradually introduced us to their school, city and cultural traditions of their region.
On Tuesday, we went for the first lesson to see how English, mathematics, and music are taught at the school in Basauri. We then headed to Bilbao, where we visited the Deusto University Library. We then continued to the Guggenheim Museum, which we visited. Finally, we went to see the whole city from Mount Artxanda and saw the surroundings of the city from there. And after sunset, we went for a walk around the rest of the city, where we lived.
Wednesday: the day started with a meeting at 8 in front of the school, from where we went to the bus stop. The final destination was the small town of Bermeo, but we stopped at a lot of places along the way. These include a beautiful beach that was groomed by a tractor, a place called Gastelugatxi, where Game of Thrones was filmed, and then a lighthouse called Matxitxako. The whole day was beautifully sunny and there was no wind, the views were priceless. After lunch, we went to the other side of Bilbao, where we played bowling. It was time for dinner, but we certainly didn't forget that it was our classmate's birthday, so we celebrated it properly.
On Thursday morning we packed our bags and went to school for 2 lessons. We liked the classes, some of us had English and economics, others biology and English. After the lesson, my family and I went to the airport, where we said our goodbyes and then (even if we would have liked to stay a little longer) set off on our way back.
