Everything began in 2017, with the need of more female representation within the special projects of the Mechanical Engineering Department of UPRM. A subgroup within the Association of Females in Mechanical Engineering (AFIM) established a new competition team where inclusion and diversity would be at the forefront. The International Roboboat Competition hosted by RoboNation was chosen because of the technical challenge it represented and the UPRM Roboboat Team was born.

We are an interdisciplinary team established to promote equality, diminish and eventually eradicate gender stereotypes to provide a more integrated team of young industrialist willing to develop a positive change to society.
