Dr. Eduardo Ortiz-Maldonado

Dr. Eduardo Ortiz Maldonado is a professor of Spanish Language and Literature at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo (UPRA). He holds a Ph.D. in Spanish from Emory University in Atlanta and a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras.

He has conducted research in areas such as 20th Century Spanish and Latin American Poetry and Film, European and Latin American Avant-garde, Modern and Postmodern Transatlantic Narrative, Religion, Myth and Heroism. 

His teaching philosophy focuses on the integration of technological and media resources in language and literature courses, the development of Learning Communities and the use of Active, Collaborative and Problem Based Learning.   

He has been Chair of the Department of Spanish at UPRA, Director for the Learning Communities Program (UPRA Title V) and Professional Learning Communities facilitator.
