Jeremiah Zamora Is a Nuclear Submarine Officer in the Navy working to give college students in Puerto Rico the same opportunity he had. The Nuclear Collegiate program permits students to secure their job while receiving a salary up to 2.5 years prior to graduation.
The program is called NUPOC – Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate. Students studying Math, Science, Engineering, or other technical field can complete their degree at UPRM while earning $4,000 to $6,000 per month for the last 2.5 years of their degree. This reserves their job supervising one of the Navy’s Nuclear Power Plants once they graduate. We provide the paid training after graduation and the students go on to earn a Department of Energy certification as a Nuclear Engineer Officer and obtain a Top Secret government security clearance.
Here are some of the requirements:
Studying Math, Science, Engineering, or related field
In 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th year or beyond
Cumulative GPA at least 3.0
“C” or better in Phys I/II and Calc I/II
Must graduate prior to 28th birthday (some exceptions allowed)
