The theme in a poem or any literary work has a very important part in it. It gives life, meaning, and functions as a support for the message the author wants to express.
Whatever it is that the author wants to express, the way to go is by formulating a strong and powerful theme, something that makes readers tremble when reading.
It can become hard to analyze the theme of a poem, but in this class yo will learn key points when the time to identify and analyze the theme comes.
Remember that for analyzing the theme of a poem you must have in mind the elements of poetry and the type of poem you are reading.

Class PowerPoint! This PowerPoint will be your guide through the topic of types of poetry. It is very very important you go through the PowerPoint and in case of not understanding something please contact me. Also, I added more complementary information about this class.
In the class of Elements of Poetry, I added a PowerPoint on a poem that I analyzed. That poem has great key points annotated for when analyzing the theme in a poem. I will provide again the PowerPoint so that you can revise it again.
Read this poem:
“it was when I stopped searching for home within others and lifted the foundations of home within myself I found there were no roots more intimate than those between a mind and body that have decided to be whole.”
― Rupi Kaur
Take the poem that you read in homework #1 and change its theme. You will write in a document a new poem using that poem as a base, and you will change its theme. In the document write a short paragraph about what is the theme of the poem by Rupi Kaur, then tell me to what theme you changed the poem, and why you chose that new theme.
