Day 17 - Rome

"Today was the greatest day ever!!!" -Piper Morrison.

We took a couple of metro trains to see the Colosseum. it was quite overwhelming and extremely crowded with tourists. It is a spectacular monument and we were really impressed with the architecture and the scale of the building.

From the Colosseum we went to the Roman Forum, which was an ancient forum surrounded by the ruins of ancient government buildings. The scale of the ruins was immense and certain parts of the forum provided fantastic views of the city and Colosseum.

From the Roman Forum we headed up to the Capitoline Museum. While a lot of us were thinking it would be just another museum, it turned out to be one of the most impressive museums we visited.

On our way home we stopped by the Trevi Fountain, which was spectacular. Not so spectacular was the number of illegal street vendors selling selfie sticks and yelling "Boom Shakalaka", although they were quick to disappear when the police walked by.

We ended the day a whole group dinner at our hotel's restaurant.
