A carefully-written plan is the backbone of a good project.
It is well worth the time and effort to create a good one!
A good plan matches our partner's actual, expressed needs with our strengths as a team, and contains the information we need to know before starting out.
Our plan should be able to guide us through our project and keep us on track. It clearly states our objectives, lays out all the steps needed to accomplish these, who will do each step and by when, and what resources are needed. It should also include any risks we might encounter, so we can already take steps to prevent and/or address these.
For more information on creating a plan, watch the video below.
Important: Your project plan should be approved by your faculty guide before you start implementing!
The Project Plan
Here are the parts of our project plan. Note all the information you need to include, and make sure to include these. The more detailed your plan is, the better you can monitor the implementation of your project.
Instead of a GANNT chart, we will now have a simpler progress chart that we will use to visually mark our progress.
Create a progress chart with the steps of your project.
The chart in your plan should be plain and not colored. You will fill these in as you achieve each step.
Identify the two milestone steps that you will report on and label these in the chart.
The photo on the right is just an example. Your plan may have more steps and be more creative.
Make sure your chart is easily editable, as you will be updating and presenting it in your milestone videos.
Important points to keep in mind:
Work closely with your partner.
Consult your partner each step of the way to make sure that you are on the right track.
This will help prevent major revisions later on and help ensure that your work will be what your partner needs.
Make sure to learn from everyone!
As digital citizens, we will harness the combined knowledge and experiences of the whole class.
So make sure to share what you know, and learn from your classmates. You may be able to help each other avoid pitfalls that you had to learn the hard way!
In case of changes...
If you change your project (e.g. you get a new partner; you set a different goal, etc.) you will need to submit a new plan for approval.
If you change an important aspect of your project, or will change/ remove members, please consult your faculty guide.
If a disaster strikes:
You can shift your project and respond to it. Just make sure to consult your faculty guide before you do so.
If you are affected by any unexpected circumstances that would prevent you from performing your tasks, please do your best to let your ka-barangay know, so they can adjust accordingly.
Your plan is 20% of your grade. It is the basis for everything you will do in the course.
Your plan will be graded according to the following:
Based on a needs assessment with the partner (5%);
Leverages the group's skills/resources (5%)
Clear and contains all required parts (5%)
Action plan is complete and feasible; (3%)
Tasks are well-distributed (2%)
With our super busy lives, it is very tempting to just choose the easiest way through.
However, this is a great opportunity to challenge yourselves to spearhead something you've always wanted to do, while you have a team to help you out, and come up with something that all of you can be proud of.
So grab this opportunity to be the change you want to see in your community! :)
