Off the Lip 2020 Symposium Logo competition
The University of the Philippines Open University is seeking submissions for a logo-making competition contest for a symposium it will be holding in January 2020 in partnership with the University of Plymouth and the CogNovo Foundation for Cognitive Innovation. The designer of the selected logo will be awarded P5,000. Deadline is May 12, 2019 at 11:59 pm.
The symposium, Off the Lip 2020, will focus on radically multidisciplinary, multisectoral, and creative approaches to addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The goal of the conference is to get researchers from diverse disciplines (e.g., environmental scientists, human geographers, and cognitive scientists) and across sectors (government, industry, academia, and NGOs) to come to together to address challenges in sustainable development. The symposium will highlight the role of cognitive science and cognitive innovation could play in issues of sustainable development.

Off the Lip 2020 will be the 5th in the Off the Lip symposium series, which investigates the nested, complex and evolving subsystems of nature, economy and society, and multi-sector engagement to realize innovative, relevant solutions.
Design brief
- Visual elements: The logo should be feel like it is in the same family of logos representing previous Off the Lip events (see below). The inspiration of the original logo was an ocean wave: pushing the edges of innovation and creativity is like riding the crest of a wave when you surf.
- Themes: We are looking for logos that are inspired by the themes of the 2020 conference. It would be good if the logo referenced the UN Sustainable Development Goals and/or Filipino design motifs or visual elements.
Competition requirements
- Eligibility: Any Filipino citizens can enter the competition. Students are particularly encouraged to apply.
- Multiple entry limit: Only 3 design entries per participant are allowed.
- Format requirements: PNG or JPG formats, 500 x 500 pixels maximum, 1 Mb per entry.
