Contacting me

1. Please do not use the MyPortal messaging system to contact me, as it is difficult to track your concerns and our conversations using the MyPortal messaging system.
2. If you need help regarding a course that I'm teaching, please first follow my advice on the page Getting and giving help before sending me an email.
3. If you are a BAMS student and need program advising guidance, visit https://upou-bams-test.freshdesk.com/support/solutions
4. If you need to contact me regarding a course that I'm teaching, email dmaranan@upou.edu.ph. If you do email me, you must indicate what course your concerns refer to.
5. Please do not add me on or message me through Facebook. I rarely use Facebook and do not accept friend requests from my current students.

Some notes about names

• Because of the sheer number of students that I teach every term, I may not be able to remember the nickname that you prefer to be called and I might simply address you by the name that appears in your email header or your MyPortal profile. I do apologize in advance.
• I prefer to be addressed simply as "Diego" and not "Sir Diego", "Dr Maranan", "Prof Maranan", or some other variation thereof, but I won't take offense if you forget. I am used to addressing my university instructors on a first name basis. However, this is not an invitation to be excessively informal, overly familiar, or impolite with me. Our relationship should be based on a mutual respect for each other.
