Composition: Each student has composed and submitted two contrasting pieces (along with notated scores). These compositions are sent off to the IGCSE exam board for final marking and moderation. This year's class also decided to compile all their original Music and release it on an online, digital album they have titled, 'Impermanence'.
All IGCSE Music and School Diploma Music students are required to perform (and live record) a solo piece. Throughout the 2 year course, students performed several times in class and from their homes during online learning. Each recording was recorded and reflected upon.
This sample IGCSE coursework solo performance is from Cao Ze Yua (Mike). As well as this submission on cello, Cao Ze Yua (Mike) participated in the Euroasia Youth Music Festival & Euroasia Association of Performing Arts performance competition and achieved second prize in the age 15-17 division. We are sure you will enjoy listening and watching Mike play this Scherzo by Frank Bridge.
Due to the pandemic and subsequent extended period of online learning the ensemble performance component was waivered by the IGCSE exam board. Rio Shirai did however complete this component arranging the song 'Versace on the Floor' (Bruno Mars) for an ensemble performance he played piano for and musically directed. Please find the live, mp3 recording from Uplands (MPH 2).
