How Students Get Support.
Teachers/Staff: Submit a Request for Assistance (RFA) referral.
Families/Students: Contact the counseling office or use the website request link.
Data Review: We also look at school data monthly to invite students who may benefit.
Confidentiality: School counseling is a short-term, skills-based support. We partner with families and maintain appropriate confidentiality while keeping student safety first.
How Families Can Help.
Talk with your student about what they’re learning in counseling lessons.
Reach out if you notice changes in mood, behavior, attendance, or grades.
Bookmark our Classroom Lessons Schedule and Program Goals to see what’s coming up.
What is MTSS?
MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) is a schoolwide framework that helps us match the right support to each student’s needs. Think of it as three layers of help:
Tier 1 (for ALL students): Prevention and skills for everyone.
Tier 2 (for SOME students): Extra small-group help for students who need more.
Tier 3 (for FEW students): Individualized, intensive support.
Most students’ needs are met in Tier 1. As needs increase, supports become more targeted and intensive.
How Our School Counseling Program Uses MTSS?
We use MTSS to deliver support that is proactive, data-informed, and equitable:
Teach & Prevent (Tier 1): Counselors push into classrooms to teach lessons on social-emotional skills, academic habits, and college/career readiness. We also run schoolwide initiatives (7th grade orientation and career day).
Targeted Small Groups (Tier 2): For students who need more, we offer short-term groups (e.g., organization & study skills, coping skills, friendship/conflict, attendance check-ins).
Individual & Intensive (Tier 3): When needs are greater, we provide individual counseling check-ins, coordination with families/teachers, and connections to community resources.
We review multiple data points (attendance, grades, office referrals, student/family/teacher requests) as well as quick student check-ins (like Minute Meetings) to decide who may benefit, what support fits best, and how long it’s needed.
