The aim is for exchange students to develop teaching skills. My teaching skills have developed from lesson planning, lesson implementation, and lesson evaluation. Apart from that, to train the English language skills of exchange students. The language barrier meant we could only communicate in English. This brought great improvement to my speaking skills, even though in Indonesia I rarely used English. Furthermore, exchange students gain insight into a wider world with different cultures. finally, to expose prospective teachers to a variety of teaching and learning situations and opportunities, as well as the value of flexibility. Taking this opportunity makes me have the responsibility as a teacher in a school that uses a different curriculum and habits, and of course it is not easy to adapt.
Procedures of Practicum
The procedure in the practicum begins with lesson planning and lesson planning consultation with the collaborating teacher, implementation which is also supervised by the collaborating teacher, and learning evaluation.
Outcomes of Practicum
The results obtained from this practicum are improving my teaching skills, improving my English language skills, and making it easier for me to adapt to new places.
The Challenges of Practicum
The challenges that I had to face included subject matter that I had only just learned when I was in the Philippines, there was some material that I had never known before and this caused me to have to study more to understand the material. but this made me learn more, not only about the subject matter but I also learned a lot about how to manage grades 4, 5 and 6 because each class has different treatment.
Overall Impression
a very valuable experience for me where I underwent 2 years of online lectures where there were not many opportunities to explore either at home or abroad.
With the opportunity to be a sea teacher, I have gained many things, starting from relationships, teaching skills, language skills, and additional knowledge about the culture in the Philippines.
Suggestion for Future Improvement
Overall, the implementation of this activity was good. I hope that in the future this program can facilitate future teacher candidates both in material and non-material terms to become good educators and bring the good name of ASEAN and their respective countries to the world stage in the field of education.
