Student Design Clinic Year 2

Junior Clinic - Year 2

Junior Clinic projects are completed by second year students and focus on the development or modification of a specific product for a specific audience. The products are typically simple mechanical or electrical devices that have a minimal number of required parameters.

Project: Separating Oyster Clusters

Partner: Atlantic Aqua Farms

The objective of this project is to design tooling that will allow an operator to safely and ergonomically separate the oyster clusters.

Student Team: Jawad Adisa, Khidaf Aijaz, Suliman Antoun, Kyle Kennedy, Cale MacKay.

Breakout Room: Year 2 - Team 1

Project: LEGO Cleaning and Sorting

Partner: Bricks 4 Kidz

The objective of this project is to develop a system of cleaning the LEGO and sorting it by size. The system must reduce the amount of time and labor currently required to wash, dry, and sort the LEGO.

Student Team: Mitchell Collins, Mac-Donald Duru, Zeyad Elkallaf, Kaelyn MacLeod.

Breakout Room: Year 2 - Team 2

Project: Trench Cleaning System

Partner: Cavendish Farms

The objective is to design a trench cleaning system/machine that can be designed to help eliminate most or all of the manual labor and to speed up the cleaning process

Student Team: Aboudunrin Ebunoluwa, Abhi Patel, Yvan Cheung Chin Yan.

Breakout Room: Year 2 - Team 3

Project: Dispenser for Zero-Waste Store

Partner: Boutique MAAEMO, Montreal, QC

The project goal would be to design a new refill system for a for Zero-Waste Store. This way customers could bring in their own jars and fill them with the product that is sold in bulk within the store. The challenge is that the products vary in texture and thickness; for example, the store will sell toothpaste, shampoo, body creams, and oils in bulk.

Student Team: Oluwaseyi Afolayan, Darwin Svenson, Jonathan Rodriguez, Chiagozi Osuagwu, Prince Ogbodo.

Breakout Room: Year 2 - Team 4

Project: Design of a Packaging Line

Partner: Nature's Crops International

The objective of this project was to design an updated packaging line for Nature's Crops͘. The scope of the project included 1) determining the specifications of the equipment required based on the future requirements of the business, 2) soliciting quotes for the equipment, and 3) preparing CAD drawings showing the updated packaging line integrated into their current plant layout.

Student Team: Damien Doucette, Zidhaan Firoze, Osahon Enobakhare, Sai Pulickal, Cyusa Werabe.

Breakout Room: Year 2 - Team 5

Project: Design and Construction of Scale Models for a Tow Tank

Partner: NorCan Marine

The primary objective of this project is the design and construction of two scale models: a “traditional” River Belle II fishing vessel design and an “optimized” fishing vessel design.

Student Teams: Nnaagoziem Onoh, Jerry Oriade, Jared Young, Trey Cartwright.

Breakout Room: Year 2 - Team 6

Project: Soil Health Drying Process

Partner: PEI Analytical Laboratories

A solution that will allow the lab to air-dry at least 50 samples per week while keeping the following in mind:

● The physical lab space cannot be disrupted

● The air drying process cannot subject the samples to excessive heat or distress

● The air flow must not cause samples to cross contaminate

● There cannot be any excess dust created in the drying process.

● Samples must continue to be easily identified and organized.

● There is potential to increase the number of samples dried in the future.

Student Team: Liam Passfield, Tobenna Igwe, Phong Trinh, Badereddin Alsadi, Devon Newberry.
