Special Education Programs at UAB offer a variety of settings to meet students' individual needs. Read below for more information on our current programs!
Inclusion Setting (ELA and Math): Students are in a general education classroom with access to grade-level curriculum and are co-taught by a General Education Teacher and Special Education Teacher.
Partial Inclusion Setting: Students are in a general education classroom with access to grade-level curriculum and are co-taught by a General Education Teacher and Special Education Teacher. Additionally, students in this setting receive targeted intervention by a Special Education Teacher outside of the general education classroom based on the IEP.
Substantially-Separate Setting: Students are in our SAR cohort and receive modified grade-level curriculum for all content classes by a Special Education Teacher. Students receive inclusive opportunities by joining the general education cohorts during Encore classes.
