Initially, I found MMS 172 interesting because it aligns well with the BAMS program. It shows how media and communication work together, and I could see why it was included in the course. Still, I also found it hard to understand, especially for someone like me who is not fond of technological things. That made me feel like my performance would be limited. Additionally, I lacked the proper equipment for this course, which further added to the challenge. Because of this weakness, I had to improvise. I used what I had, and I tried to be creative so I could finish the tasks. My work was not perfect, but it was enough to show that I can be resourceful and determined when needed. Even without the best tools, I managed to deliver outputs that met the requirements.
At the beginning, I did not know what to do for the project. The tools I had were limited, and this made it harder to plan. The first idea that came to my mind was to create a narrative audiobook. Still, I had doubts about whether this was good enough. I also thought about doing a cartoon dubbing, but I was not sure if I could handle it with the equipment I had. In the end, I decided that I wanted to make something simple and easy to do, so I stuck with the narrative audiobook. However, the plan for the final work did not meet the expectations, and it felt like I lacked preparation and effort. I also felt like I left a huge chunk of ideas that could have made it look better.
When I look at my classmates, I notice the difference in the level of their work. Some created their own songs, while others developed projects that sounded like full radio station programs. Their projects showed planning, creativity, and confidence in using their tools. Compared to them, my audiobook felt plain and unfinished. I knew I could have added more ideas to make it better, but I stopped short. Seeing their outputs made me realize how much more I could have done if I pushed harder. I think I fall in the middle. I was able to finish, but I did not reach the same level of ambition or polish that some of them achieved.
This comparison also showed me something about my own style of working. While some of my classmates aimed for big and polished projects, I chose to keep things simple. I do not spend too much time trying to perfect every detail. Instead, I focus on finishing with the resources I have. That is why my audiobook looked common and basic compared to theirs. It met the requirements, but it did not stand out. This approach works for me because it helps me stay consistent, but it also shows my limit. If I continue settling for what is only enough, I will not grow past the level I am in now.
In terms of my own performance, I think I was average. I stayed within what I was comfortable with and used tools that were already familiar to me. This made the process easier, but it also kept me from exploring new methods or pushing my limits. I learned the basics of audio production, like recording, editing, and mixing, and I applied them in a way that worked with what I had. Even if my project was simple and limited by the equipment I used, I still feel proud that I managed to finish it and give it a clear structure.
Thinking about the bigger picture as a BAMS student, I see this course as a way of building my multimedia skills. Audio production might not be the area I focus on in the future, but it still has value. I do not see it as worthless or less valuable, because many multimedia projects need sound, whether for narration, background, or structure. Knowing how to record and edit audio is useful when those situations arise. I might not create songs or radio-type projects like some of my classmates, but I know I can apply what I learned when I need to.
I am still unsure about continuing with audio work in the future. It does not feel like something I want to specialize in, but I am glad I learned the basics here. This course showed me how much effort audio projects require, and it also made me see what level of work I am able to give. Even if I do not pursue it further, I know these skills will be useful when needed in my studies or in other creative projects. This course also taught me a practical lesson about effort. The results you get match the effort you put in. I gave only enough to pass, and my project reflects that. My classmates who invested more time, effort with specialized equipment produced better outputs. It is clear that if I want to improve in the future, I need to give more than the minimum.
MMS 172 was both challenging and useful. It made me aware of my weaknesses, like my tendency to stop once my work looks acceptable. It also reminded me of my strengths, like finding ways to work with what I have and still finishing the tasks. This course gave me practical skills that will remain valuable, even if audio will not be my main focus. More than that, it showed me how important consistent effort is. For now, I am glad I managed to complete the requirements, even if my work did not stand out. What I take with me is the experience, the lessons, and the awareness of how I can improve in future projects.
