Abridged Paper

Authors of accepted abstracts for oral presentations must submit an abridged version of their paper which should contain the following:

• Title and Author Information - Should contain the title, name(s) of authors including the name of the adviser, institutional affiliation(s), and email addresses.
• Introduction - Includes the background of the study, statement of the problem, significance of the study and objectives.
• Materials and Methods - Summary of the methods used. Can include diagrams, flow charts, lists, algorithms, and formulas.
• Results and Discussion
• Recommendations (Optional)
• Acknowledgement (Optional) - Not to exceed 100 words.
• References

The abridged paper must be encoded in A4 size bond paper, single column, single spaced with one-inch margin in all sides. Font style should be Times New Roman, size 11. Th paper must be between four to five pages for the main text, and no more than 2 pages for the references and annexes. You may look at the sample abridged paper below for reference. You are NOT supposed to alter the formatting of the document or add any additional elements to it. The abridged paper must be submitted via EasyChair on or before 30 Aprili 2019 by updating the file in your respective submissions.

Slide Presentation

Each oral presentation, which can be carried out by an individual or a group, will be given a maximum of 15 minutes to discuss the highlights of the study. After the presentation, 10 minutes will be allocated for the panel of judges and the general audience to ask questions.

Authors of abstracts accepted for poster presentation must submit a poster version of their research in PDF format and must have the following specification:

• The posters must include the following:
  • Title - must include the title of the study, name(s) of author(s), and institutional affiliation, degree program, month and year the research has been completed.
  • Abstract - should be between 150-250 words
  • Introduction - includes background of the study, statement of the problem, and objectives
  • Materials and Methods - summary of the methods used
  • Results and Discussions
  • Conclusion
  • Recommendation (Optional)
  • Acknowledgement (Optional)
  • References
• The printed version should be in portrait orientation, two-column, and A0 size (33.1" x 46.8").
• The URS Logo, along with other relevant logos that the participant may want to include, should be located at the top of the poster, preferably above the heading or title section.
• The contents of each poster must be readable within a maximum of two meter distance.
• The PDF version of the poster must be submitted online through EasyChair on or before 30 April 2019.
• You may submit the printed posters to the Leyte-Samar Heritage Center of UP Visayas Tacloban College, Tacloban City, c/o Mr. John O. de la Cruz, for safekeeping or bring it to the venue on the Symposium date.
• Presenters must stand by their posters to discuss the highlights of their research and to answer questions coming from the audience and the judges.

Abstract Submission

Undergraduate students of private and public colleges and universities in Eastern Visayas are invited to submit abstracts of their undergraduate research in any or all of the topic clusters on or before 27 March 2019. The abstract must contain at least 150 and at most 250 words. There is no limit to the number of abstracts that schools can submit provided that the researches have been completed within the current academic year (AY 2018-2019). Participants may send their abstracts via EasyChair by clicking the link provided (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=urs2019). If you do not have an EasyChair account, registration(it's free and straightforward) will be necessary. Participants shall receive an acknowledgment email upon submission of each abstract. A notice of acceptance or rejection will be sent through email by 8 April 2019 6 April 2019.
