Remote Access
Registering for a ScienceDirect Account
💡 Create an account while connected to the UP Manila network (on-campus or via VPN).
💡 Always check if you are authenticated. If you see the University of the Philippines Manila name or logo, you're all set.
💡 Some databases will give you, 90-day access. If your account expired, you must log in again on-site UPM or via VPN.
Why create a ScienceDirect Account?
💡 Remote Access to Science Direct.
💡 Utilize search alerts, topic alerts, journal and book series alerts, and personalized recommendations and features.
💡 Create a list of your favorite journals and books.
💡 Set defaults and customize your ScienceDirect sessions.
Go to the ScienceDirect main page.
Select 'Remote access’ in the footer of the page. The ‘Apply for remote access’ dialog displays.
Enter your @up.edu.ph email address and select 'Continue’.
Enter your password and select 'Continue' to go to the sign in page. To sign in with a different account, select 'Continue' without logging in.
If you have not logged in or registered on ScienceDirect yet, click 'login' or 'register with us now' marked in green boxes. Please don’t use the 'Create account' or 'Sign in' buttons in the header to login or register.
'Register with us now' will take you to our registration form or if you have already an account on ScienceDirect, you can select 'Log-in' marked in green box to sign in on the login portal using your username and password.After completing these steps you've successfully activated remote access and have access to your institution subscription.
After completing these steps:
You may be prompted to sign in.
You will have remote access for 180 days to your account.
Your access will automatically be extended each time you sign into your account.
You may need to repeat this process if you do not sign in to ScienceDirect for a long time.
