Associate in Arts 


The UP College of Fine Arts offers two-year Associate in Arts programs in Visual Communication, Industrial Design, and Studio Arts. Each AA program is designed to develop technical knowledge and skills relevant to the specific field of practice. AA Qualifiers may pursue the counterpart BFA programs upon graduating from the program and fulfillment of application requirements of the Department.

AA Studio Arts

AA Studio Arts is a two-year pre-baccalaureate program that integrates the teaching of fundamental skills and core ideas in studio art, complemented by basic art history. It aims to develop competencies for its graduates to work in the creative industries, and to serve as a prerequisite for the pursuit of the studio arts baccalaureate programs.

AA Industrial Design

Associate in Arts (Industrial Design) is a two-year pre-baccalaureate program that integrates the teaching of fundamental skills and core ideas in Industrial Design.  It aims to produce graduates with sufficient skills to work as design assistants, visualizers, fabricators, and coordinators in design agencies, manufacturing companies, cultural agencies and similar institutions. AA (IndD) graduates can proceed to the BFA (IndD) program provided that they comply with the relevant entry requirements.

AA Visual Communication

The graduates of the AA (Visual Communication) are expected to know how to use various art materials, skilled enough to execute designs and visual in outputs ranging from typography, to photography in any media. They may be employed as photographers, illustrators, layout artists and graphic designers. This program is intended to be part of a ladderized system where any graduate may apply and may be accepted to the BFA (Visual Communication) provided that they satisfy the admission requirements set by the Department.

 

The AA (Visual Communication)aims to produce graduates that can become capable members of the creative industry or continue to the BFA program (if they satisfy the admission requirements).
