Position the non-supporting foot against the inside knee of the supporting leg while placing the hands on the hips.
In a standing position with only one leg on the floor, the participant raises the heel to balance on the ball of the foot for as long as possible. The timer starts as soon as the participant raises the heel of their foot.
2. Beam Walk Balance Test
beam or curb (4 in wide; 20 ft. long)

In a span of 30 seconds, the participant will start to walk at one end, step onto the beam, walk the length to the other end, make a 180 degree turn and return back to the starting position.
One fall is allowed as each participant has two tries. A touch of the feet onto the ground constitutes a fall.
